How to effectively optimize images
Image optimization is one of the most effective ways to improve page speed, user experience, and SEO performance. Large or unoptimized images can slow down your store, especially on mobile devices.
This guide explains how to use SEOWILL Image Optimization to compress images safely and efficiently, with full control and restore options.
Image Optimization Methods
SEOWILL offers three flexible image optimization methods, allowing you to choose what works best for your workflow:

- Auto Optimization
Automatically optimizes images based on your saved rules. - Manual Optimization
Lets you select specific products or images to optimize manually. - Upload & Optimize
Allows you to upload images directly and optimize them before use.
You can switch between Auto and Manual Optimization at any time after saving your settings.
Set Optimization Rules Before Compressing

Before starting image compression, SEOWILL allows you to define optimization rules.
One key option is image filename renaming:
- When enabled, SEOWILL will rename image filenames to be more SEO-friendly.
- If you have already optimized filenames manually, we recommend keeping this option turned off to avoid unnecessary changes.
Once you finish configuring your rules, click Save to apply them.
Manual Image Optimization

In Manual Optimization mode, you can:
- Select specific products
- Optimize only the images you choose
- Monitor how much file size and storage space is saved
This option is ideal if you want more control over which images are optimized.
Optimization History & Image Restore
SEOWILL keeps a complete record of all optimized images.

Important features include:
- A full optimization history for tracking changes
- The ability to restore images within 30 days
- Restored images revert to the original versions detected before SEOWILL was first installed
This ensures your store remains safe, and you can undo changes anytime if needed.
Best Practices
- Optimize images regularly, especially after adding new products
- Use Auto Optimization for ongoing maintenance
- Use Manual Optimization when testing or optimizing key product pages
- Avoid renaming filenames if they are already SEO-optimized
