How to Set Up A 301 Redirect?

SEOWILL allows you to easily create and manage 301 redirects to fix broken links and maintain a smooth user experience.

All redirects are displayed in the Manage 301 Redirects table. You can update a redirect multiple times for any unresolved (404) link.

Important:
Only broken links (404 URLs) can be redirected. Valid (working) URLs cannot be used as the Path in a redirect rule.

Ways to Create a 301 Redirect

You can set up a 301 redirect in the following three ways:

1. Update an Existing Redirect

1. Go to Technical SEO → Broken Links Redirects → Manage Redirects.
2. Locate the existing redirect.
3. Edit the Target URL.
4. Click Save.

This method is useful if you need to change the destination of an existing redirect.

2. Create a New Redirect Manually

1. Go to Broken Links Redirects → Manage Redirects → Create a Redirect.
2. Enter:
   • Path: the broken (404) link
   • Target: the new destination URL
3. Click Save to apply the redirect.

3. Bulk Upload Redirects Using a Template

If you need to redirect a large number of URLs at once, bulk upload is the most efficient option:

1. Go to Broken Links Redirects → Manage Redirects → Actions → Import
2. Download the sample template.
3. Fill in the broken URLs and target URLs following the required format.
4. Upload the completed file to create redirects in bulk.
