Soft 404
Soft 404
A Soft 404 occurs when a page displays a message such as “Page Not Found” or “This content no longer exists,” but the server still returns a 200 (success) status code instead of a proper 404 error.
This can confuse search engines, as Google may treat the page as valid and attempt to index it—even though the page provides no meaningful content.
Recommended Action:
Use SEOWILL to create a redirect from the Soft 404 URL to a relevant, live page (such as a similar product, collection, or homepage).
After setting up the redirect, go back to Google Search Console and click Verify to request Google to re-crawl and re-evaluate the affected page.
Properly redirecting Soft 404 pages helps improve crawl efficiency and prevents low-quality pages from being indexed.
